At Aesthetic Med Clinic, we offer the renowned Cosmelan® method, a professional depigmentation treatment designed to target and visibly reduce skin discoloration caused by excess melanin production.
Various factors contribute to these pigment concerns, including genetics, ethnicity, hormonal changes (such as pregnancy, menopause, and contraceptive use), and environmental exposure—especially sun damage, which can trigger new or recurring pigmentation.
Backed by clinical research and medical supervision, Cosmelan® has successfully treated over one million patients worldwide across all skin types (Fitzpatrick I-VI) and ethnicities. If you’re looking to restore an even, radiant complexion, begin your Cosmelan® journey with us at Aesthetic Med Clinic today

Cosmelan and Dermamelan work by addressing the source of pigment formation in the skin. These professional depigmentation protocols contain a highly specialised blend of actives that help slow the processes involved in excess melanin production at the cellular level. By doing this, they don’t just exfoliate what you see on the surface — they help influence how new pigment appears over time.
The in-clinic mask is the first stage. This initiates a controlled resurfacing process that encourages fresh skin turnover and brightness. The second stage is just as important — the homecare phase. Through daily application, this homecare supports ongoing improvement and helps maintain the pathway of reduced pigmentation activity.
The combination of precise professional application + strict guided homecare allows the skin to gradually appear more even, more balanced and more uniform in tone. Sun avoidance and high SPF are essential throughout the protocol, as UV exposure can reactivate pigment formation.
During the treatment, the skin will be prepared with an oil-removing solution to ensure even penetration of the peel. A tingling sensation and a strong odor are expected.
The thick, clay-colored Cosmelan® mask will then be applied and must remain on at home for 8 to 12 hours, depending on your Fitzpatrick skin type and overall skin condition. While wearing the mask, it is essential to keep it moist (not wet) using a non-active water mist to prevent it from drying out. This mist can be purchased at most pharmacies.
After the recommended duration, the mask should be gently and thoroughly removed at home using room temperature water and Fibrella wipes, which will be provided by the clinic. Once the mask is removed, a small amount of Melan Recovery should be applied and allowed to fully absorb before bedtime.
Following mask removal, moderate redness (erythema) and a sensation of heat are expected.
Before starting your Cosmelan® journey, a complimentary skin consultation with one of our trained dermal technicians is required to assess your skin and determine if this treatment is suitable for you.
To ensure optimal results, you must follow the recommended at-home skincare regimen to properly prepare your skin for the Cosmelan® treatment.
The Cosmelan® mask will be applied and must remain on your skin for 8 to 12 hours, as advised by your clinician.
After the required duration, gently remove the mask at home. Expect moderate redness (erythema) and a warm sensation, which are normal post-treatment responses.

What is the difference between Cosmelan and Dermamelan?
Cosmelan and Dermamelan are both professional depigmentation peel systems from mesoestetic®. Dermamelan is the stronger clinical grade protocol used in medical settings and is generally recommended for more stubborn and advanced pigmentation concerns. Cosmelan is a professional peel suitable for a wide range of pigmentation issues and maintenance.
How many treatments will I need?
Both systems are designed as a single in-clinic peel procedure followed by a structured at-home application program. The homecare phase is a key part of supporting visible improvements and longevity.
Is there downtime after the peel?
There will be visible exfoliation, dryness and temporary sensitivity post treatment. This is normal and expected. Guided homecare is essential to comfort and recovery throughout the peeling phase.
When will I start seeing results?
Most clients begin to notice improvement in the look of the skin gradually over the first few weeks as peeling settles and the homecare program continues. Timing varies between individuals.
Can all skin types have these treatments?
These protocols are suitable for most skin types and tones. A full consultation is required to determine suitability and correct preparation.
How long do the results last?
Duration varies depending on individual skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure and consistent daily SPF use.
Is a consultation required before booking?
Yes. A consultation is required to assess your skin and select the correct protocol for your skin condition and pigmentation type.
Who performs these treatments?
Both Cosmelan and Dermamelan protocols are performed exclusively in-clinic by Nurse Lily.
Do I need aftercare products?
Yes. These systems include specific mesoestetic at-home protocols that must be followed to support the treatment journey.
